2017 KYSL INTRODUCTION TO SOCCER PLAYDATE
4 and Under (4U) THE GRASSHOPPERS
Player registration fee will be $45 and will include a shirt and #3 soccer ball.
This program is intended to be a fun and exciting experience for children and their parents/guardians to play together while introducing the child to soccer. The program will be COED with the primary age group focusing being 3 through young 4 year olds. Registration in the system will be set for players born January 2013 to December 2014. Special requests can be looked at on an individual basis.
Each player will need to be accompanied by an adult, aka, their “soccer buddy” to each session as this is intended to be a parent/player soccer play date. Players must have their soccer buddy on the fields with them at all times to participate in the activities with the child. All our soccer buddies are volunteers and we encourage parents to volunteer in any way they can to bring this fun experience to the children.
Parents will need to register to volunteer as the child’s “SOCCER BUDDY” and/or “PROGRAM ASSISTANT” on the KYSL website.
SOCCER BUDDY- Every parent/guardian that signs up a player will be ask to register as a Soccer Buddy. There are no pre qualifications other that being a responsible adult over 18 capable of caring for the child. Ex: 15 year old big brother is not an appropriate Soccer Buddy. The goal is to have 1 soccer buddy in the system for each child. That adult may or may not be at every Saturday play date but is the main contact for the child. At least one adult must be at every Saturday Play date with the child.
PROGRAM ASSISTANTS- This is the group of parents that the program director will put together and can rely on to help coordinate activities at the Saturday Play Dates. This is a Trained and background check position like all Volunteers working with players. Program Director will also register as a PA just for the training process. Program Director will find most of the PA’s from the Soccer Buddy pool of parents but can find outside help if needed. PA’s should take US Soccer National F Licence course online at the address below and encourage your parents to do the same. http://www.ussoccer.com/coaching-education/licenses/national-f
Parents need to download SI PLAY App for this program. It will be the communication lifeline between the Program Director and assistants to the players and families.
Players will meet at 9:00am on Saturday mornings during the regular Fall Rec Soccer season. Times are subject to change based on weather, temperature and the potential need for additional sessions based on number of participants. Notification of any changes to the schedule will be communicated through the SIPLAY app.
Player development at this age is simple, help each player fall in love with “their” soccer ball. Everything the players do with the ball should be with their feet. There will be no drills or practices everything will revolve around keeping things simple and fun.
Location of the event will be the grassy area by Ramada 3 between the U6 and U8 fields.
Sessions will last between 30-45 minutes where the player and their soccer buddy participate in various games and activities to help the child fall in love with soccer and develop an excitement for the game. Children will be divided up based on skill level and number of participants present each Saturday and games will be catered to each developmental groups needs at that time.
KYSL will mark out lines and provide equipment necessary for the program.
This program is intended to introduce the young athlete to the game of soccer. Feedback is encouraged to help mold and develop the program as this is the introductory season. If parents are interested in becoming Program Assistants (in addition to the soccer buddy) or if you have any questions please feel free to email Nikki Nicoletti at firstname.lastname@example.org.
